He said, from intercropping, integrated farming of brackish water aquatic species such as jammed shrimp, tiger shrimp, yellowfin pompano, mullet he switched to specialized farming of grouper with two phases. 

“In early 2016, when grouper farming movement in ponds thrived in some ponds in Khanh Hoa province, I visited and learned the farming process, as well as types of food, care and strength. Boldly ordered seed for breeding, ”Mr. Phu said.

At first, due to his lack of experience in breeding and dieting, the fish grew slowly, the survival rate of the fish was not high, only about 30%. Mr. Phu spent his time studying grouper growth, nutrition and development characteristics of grouper through books and newspapers, and actively participated in training courses on grouper farming in earthen ponds by the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center. organization. Thanks to that, he gradually grasped farming procedures and techniques.

After 2 years of testing, he found that black grouper and hybrid grouper were suitable for brackish water ponds. Fish are less sick, growth time is relatively suitable with soil pond environment. On the other hand, the farming technique is also not complicated, the care is easy and the product is easy to consume. 

Seeing that grouper farming brings economic efficiency, Mr. Phu continues to invest capital, rent more ponds, increase the total farming area to 3ha. Mr. Phu divided into 10 ponds and many rearing cycles, of which 5 ponds specialized in grouper farming, the remaining 5 ponds were mixed with grouper, tiger shrimp, yellowfin pompano and mackerel.

Mr. Phu shared his experience: post-acquired seed was stocked in a pond with a small area for easy management and care. In order for fish to have a high survival rate and develop well, before stocking, ponds must renovate, cover banks, slugs remove mud from the bottom, apply lime, dry the bottom and then get water into the pond. Seedlings are chosen to buy from reputable manufacturers in the market. The maximum commercial density of 1 fish / m 2 . After 10 months, the fish weighs about 1-1.2kg / fish. Conversion factor is about 6: 1 (6kg trash fish can get 1kg of commercial fish). With this approach, each year Mr. Phu harvests about 2.5 tons of commercial fish in 3 ponds.

The grouper's food is fresh fish like pompano and silverfish. In the first 1-2 months, the freshly bought fish is ground to be finely ground to fit the fish's mouth size. After 2 months, the fish weighs 150-200g / fish. At this time, grading the culture into big ponds The feed for fish cultured in large ponds is fresh cut trash fish fed at the rate of about 3% by weight of fish, so for each ton of harvested fish, 30kg of feed will be used. 

Every 15 days, supplement minerals, Vitamin C to increase resistance to fish. He also used a 20cm-diameter plastic pipe as a platform for fish to shelter. "Grouper fish rarely happen disease. Common fish diseases are intestinal diseases and parasitic diseases that cause ulcers.

Mr. Vo Xuan Hau, Long Dien Agricultural Extension Station, said that the grouper farming movement according to the model of Mr. Phu in the locality was not much. In addition to the model of raising grouper with industrial food deployed by the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, there are 3 small and scattered farming households.
