SecondMuse is building a network of social innovation ecosystem development programs in Indonesia and within the region, focusing on ocean issues. We are looking for a (Senior) Associate to join our  Ocean Plastic Prevention Accelerator (OPPA) program. This position is based in Surabaya and will report to the OPPA Program Manager. The initial employment period is 3 months with the possibility of extending to a 1 year contract upon  satisfactory performance.

What will you do?

1.       Planning and implementation of OPPA program initiatives: Independently create a work plan for the implementation of initiatives with support and input from other team  members and the program manager

2.       Identifying opportunities: Think creatively about how to leverage emerging opportunities for the implementation of program initiatives, share your ideas with the team,  and take responsibility for integrating them  into your plan

3.       Stakeholder network development: Implement initiatives that  lead to stronger connection of stakeholders in the waste management sector in Greater Surabaya

4.       Budget planning: Plan required financial resources for the implementation of program initiatives

5.       Partnership development: Develop partnerships for the implementation of program initiatives by attending events and networking opportunities

6.       Undertake the day-to-day activities of the OPPA program initiatives in Surabaya, including communicating with multiple stakeholders to understand their needs, supporting programming, and organizing key events.

1.       External communication: Create communication materials about program initiatives together with SecondMuse communication experts

2.       Knowledge sharing: Share your expertise and experience with other  members of the company at regular learning events

3.       Research: Desk research and communication with representatives of other

4.       SecondMuse projects to identify best practices

5.       Event management: Organisation and coordination of OPPA program events

Who’s right for the job?

If you’re one  kind of Superman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman, or Gatot  Kaca who  can  zap away  all the  plastics from the  ocean and  from this planet, then  you will definitely be on the next superhero movie.

But you don’t have to be a superhero to join us, you only need to:

1.       Have a strong competency to translate high-level concepts and ideas into real action

2.       Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills

3.       Have extensive experience and a high-level capacity to coordinate stakeholders with diverse interests

4.       Be eager to learn something new, can deal with ambiguity and consider multiple perspectives and possible solutions

5.       Love building connections, learning from other  people, and keen to present

6.       SecondMuse and OPPA to external parties

7.       Be passionate about creating impact, driving positive change, and collaborating with others in order  to improve sustainability in Indonesia

8.       Be a self-motivated, compassionate, and solution-oriented person

This job is definitely NOT for you if you:

1.       Aren’t fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, both  oral and written, and not eager to learn East

2.       Java community characteristics

3.       Don’t have intermediate English communication skills

4.       Have no extensive experience in project management, planning and implementation.

5.       Ideally, you have 2-5 years  work experience and show evidence of a minimum of 2-3 years  experience in independently implementing project plans and budgets

6.       Have never  worked in a highly collaborative team  environment

7.       Do not see  diversity as the strength of the team

8.       Are not an Indonesian citizen

Even better, if you already know:

1.       Human-centered design principles

2.       Innovation methodologies such  as hackathons, business accelerators, incubation, collaborative design and challenges

3.       Plastic and waste management sector in Indonesia

4.       Know about operational processes within large NGOs, government institutions or corporates

5.       Working environments of virtual teams distributed across different locations
